Hello…,
Seasonal celebrations can take you to new heights or put you in the dumps. It’s good to be prepared psychologically.
In the twenty-five years I fell prey to family triggers that created intense conflict, I found these three keys helpful in keeping my balance.
- Awareness
When the storm rolls in, you can choose between peace and conflict. What happens when you choose conflict?
Ask:
Do I get upset, or do I stay calm?
and
How quickly do I bounce back when I am upset?
Know yourself well! Choose how you want to feel.
- Choice
Between stimulus and response
there is a space.
In that space is our power
to choose our response.
In our response lies our
growth and our freedom.

- Prepare
Mentally prepare and practice how you want to react to familiar triggers. You’re creating new pathways in your brain to bounce back quickly if needed.
